Thursday at the UK

Listened to one of the lectures in the afternoon. Something about statistics and frequency of certain words in certain languages. I find it hard to believe that anyone understood anything. And certainly the ones that I saw fall asleep won't have understood much.

We needed to have David there to point out some obvious flaw in, or the inappropriateness of the Zipf formula or whatever it was that this bloke had up on the transparency.

Typical scene at the UK. Someone with some instrument or other and a group gathers to listen or join in.

Well, here we have another example. Japanese girl playing the samisen.

Out drinking in the evening with the German Esperantists. Great sense of humour and a great advertisement for Esperanto.
